Helmut
Gangl works regularly as deputy director at the Federal Office for
Viniculture (Bundesamt für Weinbau) in Eisenstadt and heads there
the institute II concerned with viniculture and vine research. His
areas of operation are virus and virus-like diseases of the grapevine,
yeast selection and fermentation experiments as well as the selection
of Botrytis cinerea strains. Moreover, he is a member of the Austrian
wine tasting commission and therefore jury member at national and
international wine awards.
Helmut Gangl also
selects fermentation yeasts for other wineries. His yeast strain EGH2
with the name "Pannonia" for example is distributed internationally
by Lallemand International.
Moreover, Helmut Gangl
is consultant and winemaker at a winery on Long Island in New York.
